Script

Not all the lines red from the script will actually be used in the sound of the shot; for example, the initial scream is meant to be muted in editing.

Elliott(screaming): Why are you not talking to me?!

Beat.

Elliott: What’s the point in defending him?!

Micky gets up and pulls a family picture out of his pocket

Micky: Elliott is right, Ania. How long is it that you don’t see him? He abandoned you, he fled, afraid of the consequences of what he’s done.

Elliott: But you know where he’s hiding now, and these consequences will come, won’t they, Ania?

Micky: You have nothing to lose

Elliott: Or have you?

Micky: Think about your family Ania; think about George, about Vanessa, soon to be in high school

Elliott: Oh she’s a real beauty

Micky(lifts her chin and looks at her): Do it for them, if not for you.

Ania Looks at him with the look of who will not soccombe
They Exit the room

Micky: The girl won’t talk

Elliott: I don’t see the reason

Micky: Maybe she’s stubborn, or maybe she actually doesn’t know

Elliott: ...

Micky: Either way, we’ll find out quite soon

Starts walking offscene, toward the torture tools

Elliott: What do you wanna do?

Micky turns back to him and gives him a cold glance

Scene Outline

The scene starts with a man cleaning his hands, with a singular bloody rag.

They have stopped beating her and are surprised by her resistance, she has clearly been hit very hard and for a long period of time by them; Mentally she is appearing stronger as they are frustratedThe bad cop (Elliott) screams in her face partly relieving his frustration. The good cop (Micky) pulls out the picture of her family tells her to do it for them.

The good cop gets closer to her and talks to her gently but firmly, she stares at them silent. When the good cop understands she won’t talk his expression changes, to one of disappointment in her. He orders them to exit the room to the second evil guy and they go out talking. We understand he proposes to use stronger methods in order to abstract the information. The bad cop is reluctant almost, this reveals. They pick up some tools. When they get into the room she’s not there.

Characters 2

Eliott – Bad Cop N°2
(Adam)
The scene depicts the interrogation of a girl that is covering a man which we can understand was close to her in the past. She’s being interrogated by two gangsters who’s boss was probably damaged by this man.
Eliott is the toughest of the two gangsters. He’s playing the ‘bad cop’ during the interrogation, but then he’s the one that hesitates when Micky proposes to torture her. He’s older but we understand he doesn’t have control on his partner, he probably isn’t as motivated as Micky in finding the man they’re looking for.

Character 1

Micky – Bad Cop N°1
(Ezra)
The scene depicts the interrogation of a girl that is covering a man which we can understand was close to her in the past. She’s being interrogated by two gangsters who’s boss was probably damaged by this man.
Micky is the silent, sharply dressed guy on the back with the reflective expression. He’s the one that looks while Eliott screams and hits the girl. He will then pull out a picture of the girl’s family and act like a ‘good cop’, trying to convince her peacefully. He then brings his partner, Eliott, outside and proposes to use hard manners on the girl, showing that under his mask he’s the toughest one.

Preparation for evaluation questions

 2. Who would be the audience for your media product?

a) age group - 20 - 30

b) where they live? - I think that it would fit to any location

c) Interests and hobbies - It would be more action, thriller and detective movie so I think that the target audience here would be group of people that are interested in criminality, in investigation and interrogation

d) Education/Jobs - I think university students and full time workers.

e) Income - It would be a movie for adult people mostly working or having a part time job during their studies.

Preparation for evaluation questions

1.What kind of media institution might distribute your media product and why?

I've searched the list of film distributors by United Kingdom to see the whole variety of companies. I picked the most popular ones to read about.

1. 20th Century Fox

20th Century Fox is one of the major American film distribution companies. It is based in Los Angeles. What is interesting that the 20th Century Fox also owned Fox Music, which is a record label. It featured songs from Fox movies. The records could only be bought in the Fox Theatres. Additionaly there was Fox Radio a bit later, where the newest soundtracks were played.
The 20th Century Fox I think is also known well for it's logo and fanfare. By the 1970s the Fox fanfare was being used in films sporadically (it can be heard in the movie 'Star Wars').

When I went through the filmography I have realized that it is the most common film studio, whenever I watch movies.
It has distributed films like - 'Mrs. Doubtfire', 'Ice Age', 'Avatar', 'Star Wars' and 'Titanic'.
Generally you can divide them into categories - films for families, sci-fi/fantasy and action.
Our movie would be more like a thriller (obviously) and action. I think it would not fit into the type of the movies that 20th Century Fox distributes.

2. Columbia Pictures

It is an American film production and distribution studio. It is a part of the group called 'Big Six', where all the best six film studios are counted (together with 20th Century Fox). The studio was founded in 1924 and its headquarters is in California. It got fameous because of the brilliant actors that were the constans part of the studio.
It is distributing mostly comedies like 'Bad Teacher', 'How do you know', 'Annie', 'This is the end', but also it distributed 'The girl with the dragoon tattoo', which is a psychological thriller, which I think is a fantastic movie and it really holds in uncertainty. This type of movie would be similat to ours - fast pace, mystery and frightening from time to time.

3. Paramount Pictures

It was founded in 1912 - it is the fifth oldest surviving film studio in the world, and America's oldest running distribution company.
Looking at its filmography it distributed movies like 'Iron Man', 'Transformers', 'World War Z' and ' 'Mission Impossible', which are pure action + fiction films. That deffinately would not fit our movie theme.

I think the best option would be Columbia Pictures, because it is distributing different kinds of movies. There is a bit of action but also thriller and dark comedies.

Emailing potential actors

We were thinking about James Hartman - theatre and psychlogy teacher for one of the bad guys and the second one would be Steve Gregory, who is a psychology teacher too. For the girl we want our media teacher Katie (she already agreed to help us).

Finding make-up artist

Since in our opening sequence the main character is beaten up, we needed to find someone who can do it for us.
Few days earlier we all go an email from Sasha that she is keen to help everyone with different types of make-up. Hugo emailed her asking for help and he said what type of make-up do we need.

This is her response, additionaly she asked for examples of the make-up so she can have image what we want and what she needs to do.

Location - Ewhurst basemant

These are pictures of our location, which is a basemant in Ewhurst house. We were planning to use only one part of it. The room with table tennis, and door.
One day before the shooting we are going to prepare the set - clean it and put our props inside.
